Five-9s and ASSIMILATE Demo Turn-Key DI Solution at IBC 07
SCRATCH and Five-9s’ Ultra Quiet Workstation Are Ideal for Noise Sensitive Areas
Five-9s and ASSIMILATE will be demonstrating one of the two customised solutions developed to run ASSIMILATE’s SCRATCH® Digital Intermediate Process Solution. The product to be showcased is Five-9s Ultra Quiet Workstation with 7.5TB RAID 5 storage, ideal for working in noise sensitive areas.
The core features of this combined solution include ASSIMILATE’S SCRATCH with real-time, multi-resolution review/ playback, assemble/edit, conform, primary and secondary color correction, scratch audio, visual effects (significantly enhanced with over 150 optional third-party plug-ins), finishing, and final output to any format. Running on Five-9s Windows-based open-architecture workstations, and using dual Quad Core Intel Xeon processors with 2GB of RAM, Five-9s Ultra Quiet Workstation can be configured as RAID 5. In this configuration the workstation writes at a sustained data rate in excess of 400 MB/Sec and plays back/reads in excess of 900 MB/Sec. Using RAID 0 the combined solution is capable of achieving up to 1.2GB/sec sequential Read performance. The resulting workstation is a powerful, integrated, streamlined DI workflow environment that facilitates increased productivity and superior control at the final stages of post production for any format.
Following IBC, SCRATCH, with its extensive creative feature set and optional plug-ins will become available in a fully-loaded server or workstation-based application, supplied and supported by Five-9s, with a primary focus on London and throughout the UK.
