Context:
Every year there are dozens of advertising award shows. And every year the entrants spend a great deal of time and money creating thousands of videtapes that are recorded, copied, edited and couriered around the globe.
Client/Brief:
BEAM.TV, one of the leading pioneers of digital asset management, wanted to banish such costly and time consuming submission process. In order to achieve this, a technical solution needed to be created that would enable commercials to be submitted to the advertising awards show online, straight from the ad agencies desktops.

Solution:
five-ninesolutions came up with a solution that married COTS (customer off the shelf products) with bespoke components, providing the optimal solution for the requirement. Using a SSF (Small Form Factor) cube type solution, a product was developed meeting the initial design criteria. When the systems were fully integrated with custom mechanical and electrical components installed, the bespoke software was added. Test media was then loaded and the machines were subjected to an extended soak test period confirming the functionality of the entire solution.
Impact:
Since it was first used in February of 2005, the ‘Signature Beambox’ has been successfully serving media at advertising award shows around the world including: The Clios, D&AD, BTAA, Campaign Press and the Canes Lions International Festival.
At last years Cannes Lions, the ‘Signature Solution’ was used in seven award rooms, including the ‘Grand’ viewing theatre. The machines were run continuously for up to 14 hours a day - a true testament of its reliability and capability.
